Promoting mental well-being and good mental health have been a long-term passion for me having had a background as a manager in the voluntary sector working both in the areas of mental health and homelessness for about 10 years in London and Hampshire.
My training was undertaken with the highly respected Brief Strategic Therapy & Clinical Hypnosis Foundation in London, achieving a Distinction with Merit in my Diploma, that was externally examined by the United Kingdom Clinical and Strategic Hypnosis Examination Board and is validated by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSc. I continued my hypnotherapy training with the BST Foundation successfully completing the Advanced Certificate in Clinical and Strategic Hypnotherapy.
My other hypnotherapy websites include www.solent-hypnotherapy.co.uk and www.the-ibs-treatment.com my Blog is ibstreatment.wordpress.com
I am a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners (No. 6578). I am also course author and tutor for the College of Integrated Therapies 'Treatment of IBS through Gut Orientated Metaphor' which is being upgraded to a Diploma level course by expanding the therapeutic use of the Garden Metaphor at the end of the Summer; and a further Diploma course for non-hypnotherapists on Mind-Body Therapy and the Garden Metaphor.
Professional qualifications include being registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register with a General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice and am a fully insured practitioner of Hypnotherapy and Smoking Cessation Therapy; being bound by the ethics and codes of conduct of the GHR.
Whilst working in the voluntary sector I was trained in alcohol counselling and as a facilitator for the Pacific Institute's community based cognitive behavioural programme 'STEPS' ™ (Steps to Excellence for Personal Success). I often make use of the principles of the STEPS course in the application of self-image, self-talk and goal setting in changing a client's self-perception and cognitive thinking.
Studying hypnotherapy and becoming a fully qualified hypnotherapist completing not just the Practitioner's Diploma gaining a Distinction with Merit but also the Advanced Practitioner's Certificate in Clinical and Strategic Hypnosis. Becoming GHR & National Regulatory Register registered and a NHSTA Directory member, was a natural progression.
There are certain issues such as pain management and reactive depression where a client should discuss the use of hypnotherapy with their GP first.
